CRISIS IN SYRIA : A POINTER TO WORLD WAR 3

On Agust 21 2013. A chemical weapons attack occurred in Syria which the United States government have blamed on Syrian president Bashaar al-Asaad. The USA have told the entire world that they have proof that the chemical attack in Syria which left over a thousand people dead including about 400 children was orchestrated by the Syrian government. They would not be obliged to release a lot of detailed proof to how they intercepted intelligence that points to Asaad and his government as culprits as this will endanger the methods of gaining this intel. The president, Barrack Obama has however ensured the entire world in a speech that the facts cannot be denied.

The Syrian government is led by a dictator in the person of Asaad and apparently there are oppositions from rebel groups within his terrain to push him out of power. He therefore decided to weaken his opposition by targeting a rebel stronghold. What Assad did has violated international norms and according to president Obama he voilated the basic rules of war-fare. The videos of the impact of this tragedy is available on you-tube, it is very touching and compelling. The entire world should not turn away from this ugly incident. If we do turn a blind eye, we have subjected our future and the future of  generations to ruin. We would be preparing the war-front for world war 3. This war would be so devastating that experts believe if allowed to occur, a subsequent war would be fought using sticks because modern civilization would be wiped out.

President Obama has been trying to carry people along in supporting military action in Syria. A good number of Americans are skeptical and have acceptable reasons to be, but Obama believes the USA have to act not because they are the “world police” but their disposition in acting is what makes them exceptional. Plans are currently in the pipeline for the exploration of diplomatic strategies in resolving this issue. Obama however assured American citizens and the world in general that if diplomacy fails, the united states military force would take necessary action.
Whether by diplomatic strategies or by military intervention, one thing is sure. The world has to respond to this threat as our very existence is dependent directly or indirectly on our actions.
