James Cameron is one of the best movie directors of our time, he has directed a number of awesome movies, including the two films who have grossed the most profit ever. Titanic and Avatar. He interestingly wrote the two movies.
Titanic was estimated to cost over 200million us dollars for production( highest at that time and was criticized before release for costing too much), it was a risky investment but proved that it was worth the risk after returning 2 billion dollars (big bucks mehn). The only film ever to surpass this feat was his movie Avatar , and together they are the only films to ever reach the 200 billion mark. Is it not interesting that they were both written and directed by the same person. There must be something quite spectacular about this guy called James Cameron. He is not a fluke, he definitely knows what he is doing.
Typical of the inquisitive mind I have, I did some further research, maybe I would stumble on what created his genius, probably his luck, or his good connections, or his intellectual ability, or his personalty. I stumbled on a very interesting fact, he was a college drop-out (believe me i was not surprised at all). I have always taken deep and keen interest in these drop-out stories, my friends and colleagues can testify to the fact that i have become a major protagonist for dropping out of school( even though I am still enrolling ...hehe:) ). A stunning percentage of our greatest creative minds in d last century were drop-outs, this is not a coincidence, it just has to do with a thought pattern.
Note: The fact that you are brave enough to drop out of school does not neccesarily bring you in the league of these great minds, but the reason behind your drop out.
From my personal experience in the school system, I have noticed a deception in what we now call education, we have become grade chasers instead of knowledge seekers. The educational system has become very rigid, and thus is not a great learning environment for the inquisitive and truly knowledge seeking individuals.
Our educational system now says, It’s Ok to memorize a formulae, apply it and get a good grade without understanding the principles that led to the formation of the formulae in the first instance. Educational instructors seem content with dishing out notes and methods to guide students in scoring a good grade instead of helping them understand and challenge already laid out rules.
Our “genius’’ minds of the last century.did not drop out of school to stop pursuing an education, instead they did to really pursue an education.
I know I have bot really git the bail on the head, I want to avoid a lengthy post so I don't bore my readers, I have decided to do a follow up post on this one, watch out for >>>>> why we should all become University drop-outs.
Fun fact:The Avatar story line had been ready since the completion of the Titanic, Cameron was just waiting for the right technology to arrive!
By the way, if u have seen Titanic, u would agree with me that James Cameron bears a striking resemblance with the captain of the ship.... Or is it just me? I'll check for some sort of relation and update us.
