03EL Clasico
El clasico {(no “double s”) Meaning “The classic” therefore there is no need saying The el clasico, just El Clasico would do}- is the most watched football darby in the entire world. Pitting arguably the best football teams in the world- Real Madrid and Barcelona. One close look at the statistics you would understand why this is so, it is a fiercely contested game with Madrid winning a total 91 and Barcelona 87, having an average of 3.5 goals per match. Interesting right? This Saturday’s clasico has been extremely-hyped, every sports station is running adverts and every sports programme is blasting it.
El clasico pits the best players in the world against one another, it is a bitter rivalry which has spanned centuries, and it is not just a football thing, in case you did not know, Real Madrid and Barcelona are sporting clubs hence have other outfits such as basketball etc, so any time this two clubs are facing, the do or die spirit is always there. There is a told legend that in old time Spain, Real Madrid was the club for the elites and rich while Barcelona was a club for the common man and the masses therefore a contest between this two usually had an undertone of the elite still having a hold on the common-man or the common-man breaking free from the oppression of the elite. A particular Spanish leader with the name Franco has been reported to always seek ways to rig clasicos in Madrid’s favour during his rule.
Saturday’s clasico is a face-off between 2014’s balond’or contenders, The master of the dead ball Christiano Ronaldo and the Always magical Lionel Messi. This clasico is tipped to have an effect on voting trends, and both players are in fine form therefore have no excuses. We would also be looking at the Superstar and dribbling trickster Neymar Jr and of course his fellow Jersey 11 rival, the most expensive player in the entire world Gareth bale. We cannot forget the scorer of the finest goal at this year’s world cup James Rodriguez and of course the ever dangerous Luis Suarez who is tipped to make his debut for Barcelona and is sure to be hungry to do that in style. Other quality players that can affect the game are Benzema, Pedro, Isco, Iniesta, Marcelo, Pique etc To say the least the entire squads would be at their best.
Talking about the keepers, Bravo has not conceded a goal so far for Barcelona i.e. His net has not received any goals though he has not faced a player whose goal ratio right now is out of this world, while Iker Casilas would be happy to make a bold statement to the world that he is still one of the best, as there are pressures for his replacement irrespective in both club and country of the fact that he is captain of both sides.
So who’s day is it going to be Ronaldo’s or Messi’s , Bale’s or Neymar’s , James’ or Suarez’s , Bravo’s or Cassilas’, Ancelloti’s or Enrique’s. A well fought 90 minutes on Saturday will tell
