Hope in the Air

34
Hope in the Air.

The atmosphere in Nigeria now is one of ecstasy and expectancy. TV stations are running messages like A new dawn , A new generation etc on their TV screens. People on the streets are full of hope and joy. I was in a cab in the university of Ibadan the other day and our driver was just chatting excitedly about may 29. He was questioned by one of the passengers  about his frenzy and why he was so happy. He said he was excited because at least there is hope for a better Nigeria. I have seen My friends Status on BBM and facebook etc . One person said that May 29 2015 seems like October 1st 1960. Like we are finally going to be free and really we are getting  our independence  from bad government . We have even seen all the funny posts and pictures circulating social media and I think the buzz is in order.
I remember  telling my friends that if we (Nigerians ) voted Jonathan in again then I would give up on Nigeria's hope of moving forward in the near future. I told them that the surest thing would be to look for opportunities  to leave the country if you are truly in search of a better life. I am glad we chose wisely. I am glad we choose hope!

You can read my previous article why-i-think-you-should-vote-for-buhari. Just before the elections. I tried to follow a simple thought process on why buhari should be our next president

The Outgoing Jonathan Administration  has left our nation in a bad state but it actually won't be fair to pin all the blame on his administration. The entire People's  democratic party has failed us in providing credible candidates to bring our beloved nation to its true glory.

My Expectations
♧I expect that the buhari administration  will swing into action as soon as possible   and would be under pressure  to make their point and start improving  things but it would not be magical , it would be gradual.

♧I expect that the stupendous spendings that the Nigerian government is accustomed  to will reduce drastically. The funds that are usually allocated to government offices will be reduced . This will send a statement   out that service should be done for service sake and not for the amount of money to be gained. This way we would have the right minds in government!

♧I expect that corrupt Nigerians will be picked up and prosecuted by the law enforcement  forces who were rendered defunct by the Jonathan Administration. These forces will begin to pick up corrupt people and put them were they belong. Behind bars.

♧I expect a massive turn around in the Nigerian economy within 2 years of the Buhari administration  and by that time we would be able to really appreciate  the change we have been clamouring for. The change we voted for.

Like I have always said, I can't tell u categorically how swiftly we would see this change, or how quicly this new government will affect our lives positively, but I can tell you one thing. This is the way forward. ALAS! There is hope!
